STAINLESS STEEL CLEATS,BITTS AND BOLLARDS
MARINA BOAT DOCKING AND MOORING CLEATS AND BOLLARDS
Bollards and Cleats are made of stainless steel 316L available in different finishes ranging from partially brushed, to brush to mirror finish of #8. Manufactured to suit needs from 2 tons of docking load to 10 tons of load, designed and simulated for forces in vertical axis.
Up to 6 tons’ load bearing capacity, the design is horn type that has two members aligned in vertical direction and a cross bracing member in horizontal direction. For cleats greater than 6 tons are a twin post design with two vertical members and a horizontal bracing the verticals at midpoint. Twin post cleats have a clutch caps for holding the rope within the bounds.
Method statement
For mass manufacturing of the Bollards and Cleats, the stainless steel procured has European origins for superior material quality or it is procured from renowned mills in Asia. Material test certificates are furnished in the Appendix.
After procurement, the plates are then cut on water jet systems for accurate dimensions and centers for the anchorage bolts are marked so corresponding drilling operation has accurate locations. Depending on the type of CLEATS, BITTS AND BOLLARDS, the stainless steel pipe is cut to length on chop saw; the edges of the cut length are then de-burred and beveled for subsequent operations.
The base plates, prepared by the water jet cuts are drilled for holes on the column drill and then made countersunk for neater finish and anchorage grip. The horizontal member for the horn type cleat is pressed inside a special die to form a slightly elliptical shape. Members are then mounted on the jig which is rough scaffold of the actual design, to align the members in their locations. The fixtures are then positioned and tack welded once in their desired location. Twin post cleats have extra caps that are tack welded before the welding operation.
Welding operation involve a MIG welding operation for cleaner finish. All members on both type of CLEATS AND BOLLARDS are fillet welded with a throat size of at least 6mm, and throat is attained in multiple passes ensuring welding induced heat to be dissipated in alternate fashion. Once welding operation is completed, the cleats are then visually inspected for any final touches or cleaning before the surface finish operations.
